Inventory
Everything the old environment actually does: sites, databases, cron jobs, email routing, certificates, the undocumented service someone added in 2019. Surprises found now are cheap; found on cutover night, expensive.

Build & rehearse
The new environment built and tested with a full copy of production. We rehearse the cutover itself — so the real one is a repeat performance, not a premiere.

Cutover with a rollback
DNS strategy prepared (low TTLs, staged switchover), data synced to the minute, and the old environment held intact — if anything looks wrong, we switch back and regroup rather than debug live at midnight.

Verify & decommission
Monitoring confirms clean traffic on the new home before the old one is retired — and you keep documented access to everything at every step.
No credentials? Host gone silent? Still movable.
The rescue cases — hosting bought by a vanished developer, a provider in administration, a server nobody can log into — usually have a path out: control of the domain and data recovery from what's reachable gets most sites moved even without the old host's cooperation. The earlier you call, the more options exist; the week the old provider switches things off is the expensive week.

Will our email break?
Email is the classic migration casualty, which is why the inventory maps every MX and SPF record before anything moves. Where email hosting is tangled with web hosting, we untangle them — usually leaving you more resilient than before.
How much downtime, honestly?
For most sites: none visible — the site serves from the old host until DNS flips to a ready new one. Database-heavy applications may need a short maintenance window, agreed and scheduled in advance, never discovered on the night.
What does a migration cost?
Straightforward site moves are fixed-price from £350 — free onto our managed hosting with a care plan. Complex estates and rescue cases are quoted after the inventory, which is itself fixed-price.
